10.15am Parade will assemble at Honiton Square 10.30am Penketh Library Wreath Laying. Parade will proceed to the War Memorial in St Mary's Cemetery, via Jubilee Avenue, Meeting Lane and St. Mary's road. 11.00am 2 Minutes silence followed by an Act of Remembrance, laying of wreaths and sounding of the Last Post. 11.30am Service and Parade end.   This concludes our Act of Remembrance. You are welcome to join us for light refreshments in St. Joseph's Catholic Club, Meeting Lane. Please be careful leaving St. Mary's Cemetery as the roads are now fully open to traffic.

Local plan consultation Warrington Borough Council formally launched its statutory consultation into its proposed submission version of the local development plan which will run up to 2038. This plan will determine areas across Warrington that can be developed and would release Green Belt for house building and employment land. But the plan relies on new housing being built in green belt ‘suburb extensions’ where there is little public transport connectivity and a lack of basic community infrastructure. The Council will be holding a series of public consultation events at the South Stand Concourse of the Halliwell Jones Stadium, Mike Gregory Way, WA2 7NE, on: · Tuesday 12th October - 2pm until 8pm · Thursday 14th October - 8am until 2pm · Saturday 16th October - 10am until 4pm · Monday 18th October - 2pm until 8pm · Wednesday 20th October – 8am until 2pm Representations on the Updated Proposed Submission Version Local Plan must be received by the Council no later than 5.00pm on Monday 15th November 2021. We will be discussing the local plan at our next planning meeting for the parish council and will discuss what part fiddlers ferry will play in our community. We envisage a great deal of community engagement and urge you to have your say. We have moved our meeting to the Manna House for our full parish council meeting on Monday 11th October at 19:30. Our committee room will not be able to accommodate the numbers required for the meeting and we are unable to use our hall due to current customer bookings. Additional space is required due to the co-option process. Apologies for any inconvenience.

We are very proud to announce that the Remembrance Parade will go ahead this year. It became apparent in September that it was unlikely to go ahead since the Police and other authorities pulled their support for such events and our thoughts are with neighbouring Parishes who have cancelled their parades this year. We created a successful working group with members of Penketh Parish Council, Great Sankey Parish Council and the local branch of the Royal British Legion, The Royal British Legion Penketh & Sankey Branch, who came together to ensure our communities could pay their respects and remember.   Date: 14/11/2021 Time: 10am Arrival (Parade 10:30am) Meet: Honiton Way Shops The large poppies which proved very popular over the past 2 years will be available for purchase again. The first year they lined the parade route whilst last year people displayed them at their homes or business. This year marks 100 years of the Royal British Legion, so it is hoped that a hundred poppies will line the route of this year’s parade.

Penketh Parish Council has 2 vacancies for Councillors  1 for Penketh East Ward and 1 for Penketh West Ward  To be filled by Co-option The Parish Council will consider filling by co-option two casual vacancies for Councillors  at the meeting to be held on Monday 11th October 2021 at Penketh Pool & Community Hall Meeting Room Those who are interested in serving the community and want to become a candidate for  co-option should contact the Parish Clerk via email clerk@penkethparishcouncil.org.uk or by post to the address above. An application form will be forwarded to potential candidates from 27th September. This will be sent via email, or a paper copy can be requested. Applications should be submitted to the Clerk by 5pm on Wednesday 6th October 2021. 

We would like to congratulate Tina Rogers-Smith to the substantive post of Clerk/RFO to the Council. Tina joined the Council on a temporary basis to assist with the smooth transition of administration after the recent elections which took place in May 2021. The Council agreed that a substantive Clerk needed to be appointed as soon as practicable. After a thorough recruitment process which included a number of applications, shortlisting, and a panel interview. The Council confirmed Tina as the successful candidate by way of a vote. We would like to thank those who showed an interest in working with the Parish Council and those shortlisted. Please join us in wishing Tina every success in her new role.
