The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has called for changes to the planning system, arguing that current rules allow developers to "weave around" conditions to protect wildlife. Charity spokesperson Alice Hardiman said that loopholes pepper the system, watering down protection for nature. A Government spokesperson said that action is being taken " to ensure the planning system protects and enhances the natural environment" - The Times
