Queens Green Canopy Iniative comes to Penketh

Penketh Parish Council have joined the Queens Green Canopy QGC initiative , a unique tree planting to mark Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee, which invites people from across the UK to "Plant a tree for the Jubilee"
Everyone from individual to scout & girl guiding groups, schools and corporates are encouraged to play their part to enhance our environment by planting trees during the official planting season between October to March, tree planting will commence again in October 2022 through to the end of the jubilee year. With a focus on planting sustainably the QGC will encourage planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of The Queens leadership of the Nation which will benefit future generations. The Queens Green Canopy will dedicate a network of 70 Ancient Woodlands across the UK and identify 70 Ancient Trees to celebrate Her Majesty's 70 years of service.

Penketh Parish Council are supplying a number of trees via The tree conservation society and inviting individuals, groups, volunteers to get involved. you can photograph your jubilee tree and upload it onto the QGC virtual map. (Tress are not for private/individual planting. They can only be planted on publically accessible land with the landowners permission.)

- English Oak.

- Silver Birch

- Aspen

- Green Beech

- Common Alder

- Hornbeam

- Rowan

- Goat Willow
